Actually, that's purely according to the laws of supply and demand. There's enough supply of the Canon's that there is no shortage, and enough demand that prices are quite comepetitive between retailers. Pentax lenses, which are in lower supply and demand, have a restricted number of sellers and lack the inter-vendor competition that keeps Canon lens prices low.
