Well it wa known, I'm pretty sure we talked about on the list. A Pentax rep also officially said it was supported back at Photokina.
IMO Pentax will never go PoweerZoom again. You see the way I understand the thing is that it is more a random chance that they designed their SDM mount using those power contacts. Logical, they were there, why not use them? So yes it works, but special powerzoom finctions will not: only the powerzoom itself (of course) and, it seems, the fact that a zoom goes back to minimum physical size when you turn the camera off (which is a very nice feature IMO).
