The reason 999.999% of the DVDs sold in USA are region 1 coded is because only those players are legal in americe. These cross code or no code players are not available in the usa NOT for demand reasons, its a LEGAL issue to be selling them in the USA. It might be a liscesing issue ( anyone making DVD players has to acquire the DVD licensing rights which may require them to agree to not sell region defeating players or sell players with cross regioning.) think about it for a second, if region free players or cross regioned players were available legally anywhere, the entire region coding system would make no sense to designa and implement! The whole point of it is that movie releases can have controlled release timing in the various regions based on when the content provider wants to release it in the various regions of the world.
