Okay, after reading all the responses to William when he was setting one up (very informative thread that), I realize all I want is RAID 1 -- a mirror drive to my photo hard drive.
So I bumped over to Fry's the other day (local big computer store, warehouse style, chain) and asked a clerk "Where are the RAID cards?" He pointed me to a section and they just looked like SATA cards. Only one mentioned RAID and it was very expensive. Confoosed, I thought there must be more to it than that, so I figured I needed to do more research. I could google it, OTOH, I might get a much faster answer/understanding here. Looking for a cheap way to set up a mirror drive, that is all I really need or want. SATA card, hard drive and case? What does RAID, software?
