If your computer is at all recent it most likely has built in raid. The onboard stuff is not great but it usually does OK with RAID-1. You do need to set it in the BIOS and load the drivers. Once you do that it should be able to build the mirror on the second drive, it takes awhile.
If you had wanted to go with RAID-5 it would be best to go with a pure hardware solution, and they are expensive (at least by my standards).
