I've never tried to set up a mirrored RAID by adding  the RAID and 
another drive to an existing setup.  I'd think one of the  options in 
setting up the RAID controller would be "mirror my current drive  to the 
new one".

Or you could get two drives, keep what you have  where you have it, and 
add the new RAID as extra capacity.

Already looked at some RAID  cards that say they can use current drives. See 
my photo hard drive is external  anyway. Might or might not, make it easier.
