Dario,

Most hotels have wireless internet access these days - although some
will charge you extra for it. Most new laptops and all new Mac portables
have wireless built in, or wireless add-on cards (that go in a slot in
the side) can be purchased.

I don't travel that frequently abroad, but last time I went to GFM, I
connected up via wireless at airports and so on, and on the mountainside
with a 3G card that I use in England regularly. Speed is pretty good and
for 25 GBP a month I have 'unlimited' upload/download (well - as
unlimited as corporate telecoms providers deem unlimited these days).

On the mountain at GFM I was able to get my email no problem at all.
There was an extra charge for going through Cingular or whatever it was.
Can't remember how much.

If you really want worldwide connections anywhere anytime, think sat-
phones ;-)
