Well, the Epson RD-1 is out of production and new ones have disappeared from all stocks as far as I can determine. Current US prices when you find a mint one seem to run $1300-1800 for the body. That seems a pretty good deal, compared to $5000 for an M8 ... but I'd certainly appreciate the M8's 10Mpixel resolution. ;-)
I have long suspected that the Zeiss Ikon and its M-bayonet compatible lens line was designed for transfer to a digital body, looking at the focal lengths they chose to offer.
