That's pretty much how I work. I read through the K20d Manual when I first got it, but obviously one can't absorb all that content with a single reading! It would be a waste of my time to memorize all of it when I know I'll never need/use a lot of that content so I usually have the printed manual in my camera bag, just in case. Next week I'm going out on the trail for a couple of days, backpacking with tent, sleeping bag, food, etc. as well as camera gear.
