Boris, I don't use Lightroom, but recently upgraded my processor from D to Q. In Photoshop there is some improvement, but not much. What I do notice, though, is that there is an overall performance increase in the file handling, of all things. :-) I think the reason is that the CPU load of antivirus real-time file scanning is better distributed across four cores.
Anyway, for your kind of work I don't think there's much performance gain by going quad. OTOH, I think you will benefit much from choosing a 64-bit OS because of the ability of those to address more RAM.
