The specs you quoted are printing specs, not photographic terms. but ask any camera store how large a print can you make from a good 6 MP CCD sensor. The Pentax lens is a beaut and well-corrected, and the physical size of the camera mean nothing. It's the sensor size and pixel count!

want something I can carry with me for quick grab stuff without taking my more expensive gear every time I go out.

Think some aren't getting the point, ann. You've got a Canon and want to shoot for the PUG now and then. (I have the same issues. :-))

YES!

I have a s4i and it is just adequate. But a really handy size. I think keith's recommendation is good, in other words. You can get decent shots with a 6mp DSLR so a 6mp Optio is probably about as low mp as you should go. Several s6s selling on ebay right now for under $150.

Note I do love the size of the Optio S4i (seems same size as the s6), it fits easily into a purse.

Thanks, Marnie!

I'll play with a few at B&H tomorrow... ssee what is there for my price. I'd rather buy a used one from them than on ebay - for one thing, I can take it right back easily if it really hoovers.

Joe recommened the z10 but later I read a review that wasn't so nice...
