That's very interesting to read and see, Godfrey. Would you mind
photographing the G1 next to the E-1?

I'll do that when I get back from the post office, Bob.

What is the EVF like, compared to a proper viewfinder?

There's no mistaking that it's an EVF ... you're looking at a video image rather than an optical image ... but it's very bright and easy to see, the resolution is 1.4Mpixel and the refresh is 60hz so it appears nearly as sharp as a good computer monitor. I find it very easy to focus with, manually, particularly with the MF Assist magnification function. It does not have that crisp feel of a 'live optical view', however. In very low light, it gets noisy and lag develops, due to the refresh, where with the optical viewfinder things just get too dark to see.

Thanks Godfrey,

I was curious how the EVF performs in low light. The reviews I've read have mentioned the lag, but skirt around the useability. Does the MF assist work ok in low light too?
