Hi,

you may well be right about why some people are disappointed with it,
but in my case I paid approx. $100- for mine compared to about $150-
for my M 35/2 (UK prices). I knew its reputation at the time I bought
the pancake, but I was still surprised at how poorly it compared to
the 35/2, and this is with shots at apertures around f/5.6.

Nevertheless, the shots are acceptable up to a point and the lens does
have many good qualities, so imo it's worth having if you already have
a good collection of Pentax lenses and you don't pay too much for it.
It does seem to be overpriced, particularly in the US market.
