Right after 9/11 I asked for hand inspection of my Velvia 50 slide film (I used the term "professional" when asking but don't think they cared either way). I had it at the top of my camera bag in a zip-lock bag to make it easy to pull out and ask. They were more than happy to accommodate my request.
