I don't know about the Slik Pro series, but I purchased a Slik Sprint: http://www.thkphoto.com/products/slik/slik-ss1.html
I wanted a compact, inexpensive tripod with a ball head and no quick release plates. I think this cost me about $70us. I like it quite a bit. I used it for lots of photos using my Canon 10/20d along with either the 17-40/4 or the 70-200/4. Though I will say that you really had to tighten the camera down really good when trying to use the longer lens in vertical format (without a tripod collar). I really like it, it's exactly what I was wanting. Especially now that I've switched to using classic Pentax stuff that's light as a feather ... it's perfect!
