Hi John: The 28 miles of Chicago beach front is a mix of sandy beaches and cement rock that takes the shape of staggered steps. Folks often paint images on the cement rock steps leading down to the water's edge. The spot this pic was taken is not a quarry. On the day this was taken, my nephew & I walked from sandy Foster beach to sandy Montrose beach. We walked along the lower cement rocks to get from Foster to Montrose beach. I've posted a link about the Chicago beaches, which should give you basic information. HTH. Cheers, Christine

I prefer #2 - it reminds me of the colours in original Egyptian art. The
picture appears to be of the goddess Bast, as she is cat-faced and wears the
crown of Lower Egypt only, while carrying an Ankh, the symbol of eternal
life. However, the inclusion of a lotus flower is odd, as this is the
symbol of Upper Egypt!

Any idea why it should be found on the shore of Lake Michigan, in what
appears to be a quarry?

Hi Everyone: I found some painted art on the rocks & some playful light
along the Lake Michigan shore on a short photowalk last Saturday. There are

3 different renderings here. I'd be interested in knowing if you had a
preference. The 2nd rendering is pretty much as seen--as they say :-).
