That is quarried stone John sees, not cement.
Chicago sits at the southwest corner of a huge lake (75 miles by 500 miles).
Some beaches have quarried stone protecting the shore from erosion in
storms.
As a hardy Austalian, John sees the drill holes that helped pop the stone
out.
Good catch!
We have no Egyptians in Chicago, only a museum or two at the U of C.

I prefer #2 - it reminds me of the colours in original Egyptian art. The
picture appears to be of the goddess Bast, as she is cat-faced and wears
the
crown of Lower Egypt only, while carrying an Ankh, the symbol of eternal
life. However, the inclusion of a lotus flower is odd, as this is the
symbol of Upper Egypt!
Any idea why it should be found on the shore of Lake Michigan, in what
appears to be a quarry?
