The 222 Joystick Ball Head has a load capacity of 2.5 kg.

The 322 Grip Action Head has a load capacity of 5.0 kg.

2.5 kg is not going to be enough, I don't think.

That certainly looks like a good idea.  Though the 'lighter and simpler
than a tripod' part might not be doing so well. :)

Manual focus lens -- one hand to focus, one hand to brace/tilt/etc. the
monopod and head, one hand to trigger the shutter; that's going to get
complicated.
