I've been buying from B&H for years. They're great. Outstanding
service and good return policy. Of course they carry everything Pentax
produces. The days of the local camera store are disappearing. It
won't be long before your local Nikon dealer bites the dust as well.
They just can't compete with high-volume sources.
Stores like Walmart and Sam's Club, the names of which you cleverly
disguise in your post, aren't in the business of high-end merchandise.
They carry a few fast-moving cameras for the soccer mom and t-ball dad
set. It would be foolish of them to deal with low-volume advanced
equipment.

Thought I'd look into the purchase of the K-7. Won't be able to

I talked to the owners of one of the two local independent camera
dealers I usually shop; the one that was still a Pentax "dealer".
Well, he's not any more.
He told me Pentax wouldn't take his orders. He wasn't a high enough
volume dealer. And apparently, that's why the other independent
dropped Pentax, Pentax stopped filling his orders - although that
happened around the time the K10D debuted.
So it don't look like the K-7 is in my future from that source.
Well, let's see who else might carry it.
According to the Pentax web site, the only "dealers" in or around my
zip code that have Pentax DSLRs available are Wally World or Scam's
Club (5 Walmarts & 2 Sam's clubs listed - not IN, but around).
I don't shop there, but I thought I'd take a look and see if they
really had the K-7 ... or ANY Pentax cameras.
NOPE. Never heard of 'em! Got 10MP Canon Rebel kits and 6.1MP Nikon
D-40 kits.
Wally World dot com has the K200D body and the K2000 w/18-55 OR a
bundle of either plus an AF540FGZ. In the fine print it says
"Special Buy", "Online" and "Not Sold in Stores".
The only mention of the K-7 Wally World dot com is a sponsored link
that takes you to Pentax's "Official Site".
Wolf Camera - Fritz Camera ain't got it, and ain't gonna get it
before they go out of business.
So I guess I'll have to see what B&H or Adorama are offering when
the time comes. Or maybe I'll just put it all on E-bay and switch to
Nikon, since I can still get those locally.
