Hello all,

I am new on the list, having a K20 (love it!) and a couple of Limited series lenses. My girlfriend just bought the K-x this week and I must say I am impressed. I haven't got the chance to experience the K-7 yet, but comparing to K20 the smallish K-x has notably faster and more reliable AF. Ergonomics is good for my average sized male hands, everybody with smaller hands will love this camera (those with large hands should check first). I thought glove operation is impossible with K-x, but my girlfriend just today has demonstrated that it goes.

Only thing that surprised me is that image review after capture would last longer than expected to show up (usually I use the RAW+ setting). I thought this would be same or faster than K20 (because the K-x has smaller files and faster processing) yet it takes a whole lotta more. Maybe the extra processing power is eaten up by the new features which I all turned on (shadow correction, distortion correction, lateral chromatic aberation correction). I haven't done any direct comparative tests between K20 and K-x, but it seems to me that the K-x files have a tad more dynamic range, the files are incredibly smooth and have very soft transitions.

This is a surprisingly featured and able camera and from my point of view the ideal 2nd body and a perfect companion for the diminutive sized Limited series lenses. I haven't played with the movie option yet, but the live-view is maturely implemented and more usable than on K20. Very positive are the interactive status display and the control panels display, which allow to make changes on most important functions without the need to dig into menus.

For those who are worrying about the AA-batteries, worry no more! I used AA batteries with my old Optio 33L and with Canon A640 with excellent results. Just buy a good set of rechargeables with a quality brand charger and off you go. Only thing is you have to sort your NiMHs more carefully, you shouldn't mix different sets. You should refresh & check them from time to time and if one battery goes dead dispose the whole set of 4. I use Hahnel and Sony power.

That's it for the start, I will report more when I dig deeper into the camera. Expect also to see some K-x photos on my photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/dragra/

cheers,
Dragan
