Not to be argumentative but exposure is not a function of the sensor.
The three main things you judge a sensor on are:
Color Depth (or Color Sensitivity) which indicates both the breadth of
the color spectrum and the degree of fine separation between colors
that a camera can distinguish. The higher the color sensitivity, the
more color nuances can be distinguished.

The other two Paul correctly points out are:
Dynamic Range: the greatest possible amplitude between light and dark
details a given sensor can record
and
Low Light ISO performance: indicating the highest ISO sensitivity to
which your camera can be set while maintaining a high quality,
low-noise image

All of the above parameters must be based on an evaluation of the RAW file.

The last is resolution, which is basically megapixels.

What the camera does with the raw information from the sensor is a
whole different subject... but the discussion here seems to be on the
merits of the sensors themselves.

Dx0Mark Sensor is a great way to compare the various Pentax DSLR
sensors, judged on the same level playing field.

The K-x is far and away the winner in High ISO capability. The K-x is
also the clear winner in Dynamic Range 12.5 EVs compared to the 2nd
place K10D with 11.6 EVs. (The K20D is in 4th place with 11.1 EVs).
Color Depth is a photo finish (pardon the pun) with the K20D at 22.9
bits to the K-x score of 22.8 and the K10D coming in with 22.7 bits.

In overall (combined) scoring, Dx0Mark gives the K-x a commanding 71.9
score to the 2nd place K10D's 65.9. The K20D is next with 65.4 and the
K200D at 65.2.
