The Last Supper by Leonardo is close to 16x9 at 880x460cm (16:8.36). Frustratingly close to a double square, which is important in Japanese culture. The tatami mat is a double square, as are other rectangles you see in traditional Japanese buildings. Tatami mats are, I believe, about 3x6ft for practical sleeping purposes, and close to the ratios of the rectangle which fits an idealised human body. This module forms the basis of other dimensions in Japanese architecture. The HDTV designers should have chosen a double square for their format. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
