Sorry to be so flippant - it really is disgraceful of Pentax not to have sorted it out. It's no wonder they're going the way of the Dodo.
They definitely blew it on the SDM stuff. My understanding is that they have fixed the problem, but, of course, the lenses have to break and go in for the improved motor, which in most instances will not be a warranty repair (this is the part I find disgraceful).
