That works well. Have you tried the patch tool instead of the clone tool? I've found if I bring the colour up and need texture, this works with less fuss than cloning, since Photoshop will match the densities quite well.

I tried the patch tool just the other day on some blemishes. It worked well, and I expect I'll be using it again.

I use the patch tool quite a bit. Besides removing blemishes, it's really useful to quickly lift dark shadows under eyes, as in the shot linked below. It also works really well to do tricky things like removing a blemish out from under a hair. You can use the lasso tool to create protected areas so that the patch (or healing brush) won't try to copy dark nearby objects into an area you are healing.
