Only if you're able to extract all the resolution that the sensor offers.
If you're shooting hand-held, at moderately slow shutter speeds, you're not
going to be sensor-limited.  If your lens doesn't have the resolving power,
or if you're diffraction-limited because of the aperture size, you're also
not going to be able to use those extra megapixels.

There's also the fact that lenses rapidly get much more expensive, for the
same angle of view, as the size of the image circle increases to cover a
larger sensor.  So if cost is a contributing factor (which it is, for most
of us) all things are most decidedly *not* equal (otherwise we'd all have
ordered 645D systems by now).
