I ran a VIN search, and found out there's a flaw in the design of the
power steering assist hose on my car -- which stands to reason, as I'd
noticed the past few times I'd driven it that there was a slight whine
whenever I made a hard turn.

Apparently, it's known to cause underhood fires like the one I had.
Now, it's a matter of finding what to do about it. I called an attorney
friend of mine, but he doesn't work in that are of the law. So, I need
to do a bit more research to find out where to go next.
