The simplest thing would be to do so in firmware. Something like:
* press lv button and hold it 2 sec or
* press raw button together with lv button in order to engage lv mode.
Likely this will never happen though as K-7 is no longer current for Pentax.

I wonder how hard it would be to make some kind of cover for the LV
button. Obviously when I want to use LV (and I do) I take it away
form my eye.

Well, if you shoot a lot in dim light, then K-5 would be a great step up for
you, Rick. Having seen the samples, it is indeed significantly more usable
than K-7. But I am going to acquire a denoising software thereby I hope to
"reclaim" at least one full stop of K7.
Thanks!

Boris,
I have 1/4 as many clicks on my K7, but...
- agree completely with the 100% viewfinder and "level" being great
to have;
- autofocus does much better in tungsten light (or warm fluorescent
light) than the k10's;
- I have done a fair amount of shooting in dimly lit interiors,
during ceremonies or classical musical programs, so I appreciate ISO
3200 (and Lightroom 3!) and the quiet shutter;
- Switching focus points is, indeed, awkward. I really miss being
able to have the AF button return the focus point to the center.
I've only shot with the K10 once since I got the K7, and that was
just for "old time's sake".
