Paul, even though you apply +0.3 comp, do you, also, spot expose on the 
brightest area? This has been my practice, but with a -0.5 comp. Meter 
variation may be a factor, but my reasons are to help protect against blown 
highlights plus the hand holding benefit provided by increased shutter speed. 
Daylight shooting with virtually never more than 400ISO.
