Thanks, Boris. I'm figuring out my routine. All suggestions are helpful at this point. I've been importing directly into LR from the camera, but I can see advantages to copying from the camera to the disk before importing into LR. E.g., the images on my camera are in subfolders by date in a folder for the year. When importing directly from the camera into LR end up with a subfolder for "2010" in the folder for "2010." Then I have to move the folders in the subfolder to the folder, which I find awkward in LR. It would be easier to do in Finder before importing the dated folders into LR.
