Hi Ecke,

I use Pentax wireless controlled from the camera flash in almost every
situation.

The one exception (which is one I encounter all the time
unfortunately) is where you are shooting towards or through a
reflective surface - in which case the on camera flash is reflected
back to you. In that case I use the Pentax off camera flash cables
and connectors. You can use one off camera flash to control the
others in a multi flash set up, but cabling them all back to the
camera stops the flash ready light from coming on until all the
flashes are recharged.

The Sigma flashes have an interesting wireless feature in that they
pulse the AF assist to show they are charged and ready to go. this
may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the situation. Sigma
flashes have a bad reputation from an early implementation of Pentax
Wireless, but at present they work with all the current cameras (no
guarantees for future cameras however).

Hope this helps.

Leon
