Thank you everyone for this wealth of information. I've decided to
wait a few days for offers from the list and, failing that, to buy the
hotshoe adaptor f and cable f5p from amazon. However, only after
extensive testing of the wireless feature of the K10D that I was not
aware of - goes to show how important RTFM can be... as for intended
use, I want to have the flash on a flexible arm attached to a longer
quick release plate - much like a flash grip but not quite
