Well, I've just returned with my new K1000 and the attached M-50/2,
and all looks to be in order. The camera itself is in fine shape,
though you can tell it's been sitting for a while -- some dustiness in
the leather. I'm sure it could stand a good overall cleaning, though I
doubt the lens has been off the thing in quite some time. The shutter
speed control feels crisp and snappy, the winder moves very smoothly,
film advance feels good.
The lens didn't have either front or rear caps (and, consequently, the
battery's dead), but appears to be in good shape -- tiny nicks around
the very end of the lens casing, but no other apparent signs of wear.
The glass appears immaculate and there's no sign of oil on the aperture
blades. Unfortunately, it's dark and cold outside, so I can't really
test it under preferred lighting conditions. But, what shots I have
taken, even at maximum aperture, appear tack-sharp. I do think I'm
going to like this lens a lot!
And, if it is indeed good enough for St. Ansel, I suppose I could learn
to live with it. :-)

As for the camera, maybe it's not the "greatest" but its all anyone
ever needs to make a photo. And it will teach you more about
photography than any auto mode will.
