Congratulations!  I think that lens will work very well for you.  Since the K-x 
makes f/2.8 usable, the extra stop you'll get from f/2 is even better.  
Eventually maybe you'll find a free/cheap 50/1.4 supertak that you can use wide 
open when you need that extra stop.

I think you'll also find that your new lens is very good for portraits, 
especially group portraits.
