Minimum wage was $1.61, (Connecticut's minimum wage law set the minimum 1% higher than federal rounded down), when I took my first job. Usher, (actual title was "Officer" which meant I was in charge of the other Usher, in reality it just required that I be held responsible, and generally verbally abused, if something went wrong, no extra pay involved), I too felt rich, was suddenly popular, with everyone in highschool who had previously ignored me and wanted to get in to see the movie for free. Highlights and lowlights included 1.) Getting to see "I am curious yellow." and another foreign film classic "Maid in Sweden" both X rated at the time though being under age. Then working every second night during Hello Dolly's entire 12 week run, (I can still sing most of those songs by heart, God help me). You can pick for yourself which were the highlights and lowlights. Really they all qualify as both.

Cheers, Christine
