Why use anything other than Adobe Camera Raw?
You're already using the Adobe conversion engine if you're using
Photoshop Elements 5.0 as your image editor; it just makes sense
to use the same RAW conversion engine to generate preview JPEGs.
You can also get what is called a "Windows Shell Extension" that
lets you see thumbnails for PEFs (and DNGs, and Canon RAW files)
in the regular Windows File Browser

I've been using this ever since I got my *ist-D back in 2003.
Actually, I've got it worked out now... using the PEntax browser and
lab works fine... now that I know how.
I was always able to see the thumbnails in something... they're too
small for me..
Now that i have jpgs I can do the slide show in zoom browser...
