Thanks to everybody who responded. It was a busy week, so it took me some time to take photos of the tripod parts in questions, as they don't show up in the photos that I can find online.
Item 3: http://www.komkon.org/~igor/Tripod/_IR27447.jpg (two threaded holes) Item 5 below: a stud at the bottom of each leg: http://www.komkon.org/~igor/Tripod/_IR27445.jpg Item 4: a hole in the mount, just above the leg top: http://www.komkon.org/~igor/Tripod/_IR27445.jpg It seems to be consistent with what Stan and Joseph described. > Mon Feb 28 14:41:45 CST 2011 > Larry Colen wrote: > On Feb 28, 2011, at 12:29 PM, Cotty wrote: > > > > > I would guess that iGor is interested in doing some video work with > > the K-7 ? > > I thought he was just cheap and picked it up at a garage sale. > Two smart a... guys. :-) I picked up this tripod at the university surplus, - to use in my lab. Currently I am teaching a class that I mentioned before "The Art of Scientific Communication", where I am recording presentations. So, instead of bringing of my original "TiltAll" aluminum tripod, to the class, I am considering using this one. It's missing a QR plate that I'd need to buy. As for these holes and studs, - my inquisitive mind (har!) wants to know what they are for.
