One theory I've seen is that it's aimed at the lomography types. That
work fit the odd combo of quality build (magnesium body) and low
performance parts (small sensor and toy lenses). Given the high
emphasis on carrying the camera everywhere, the size is critical.
Maybe the key chain idea might be real suggestion? The price could
also drop quickly if it doesn't sell.
Or not. I'm not planning to buy one but for some reason I find this
weird little camera interesting.
I'm quite intrigued by it. Hopefully there will be more lenses than what
is available at introduction at some point in the near future.
The small sensor objection is a non starter, as long as it produces
decent images for Crackbook, that will mostly satisfy it's target
market, and given that it seems aimed more at the home market than the
unwashed non Nipponese, the toy lenses make a lot of sense. The Japanese
seem rather fad driven.
I'm hoping that by the time it is released to the world outside of
Japan, they will have a couple more lenses in the stable.
I can totally see myself buying one of these things for those trips to
gallery openings in Chicago, where I want a smaller camera.
