For tax purposes, I take the standard vehicle mileage deduction for business miles. I rarely have maintenance costs, so I probably come out ahead that way, and to do otherwise, I'd have to keep a log. I can track my fuel costs simply by going to my bank account record online, since I buy all gas with the same bank debit card. I expressed surprise at the notion that some might graph the rise and fall of prices. Not disdain, just surprise.
