The thief may be the one responsible for the theft, but the car owner presented an invitation. My car insurance is null and void if my vehicle is stolen because I left the keys in the ignition, and I am financially responsible for any damages done with said vehicle. And before you say get a different insurer, it is a standard clause in every auto insurance policy here.
