I had a book delivered, sent from Holland (Europe), UPS to Scotland (I'm in SE England), then it went to Nashville Tennessee and it got stuck there for 3 days.
I contacted UPS who said "we're aware of congestion in our Nashville TN depot and your package will be released within 2 days". They didn't get the point really - Scotland to Tennessee? Why? After another couple of calls, they admitted that it's better / cheaper for them to ship it by adding a few hundred grammes to a flight to Tennessee and then back to London Heathrow than to send a half empty truck from Edinburgh to London. I'd never have known if it hadn't got stuck because of some IT failure...
