Tom,

Come to Dayton Hamvention. There you can get all the broken electronics you
want -- at at bargain prices. Why pay premium prices for junk when you can
fill your car for a lot less. Just get something nice for the wife before
going home. The women there describe the flea market as things just moving
from one man's basement to another.

Last year I spent $75 on a TD145 with Ortofon VMS20E. Came a terrible hum as
an added feature. Took me about 15 minutes (after 2 hours of searching) to fix
the ground loop inherent in its design, and the fix as documented by Thorens.
What remains is that the headshell does not always make good contact with the
leads behind it. But that does not happen often.
There's lots of stuff like that @ Dayton. Broken but very easily fixed.

And I just could not resist a Thorens. Imnsho, the best mid-range table
around. Better than an AR XA, and while not a Linn, it also has not the price.
So I continue to wear out Parchment Shamblejam while using up my supply of
D3/D4.

Sincerely,

Collin Brendemuehl
