I haven't verified your math PJ... :) but would point out that a $3000 (D800) or $3300 (D800E) camera is significantly more affordable than the 645D ($10,000) or the Nikon D3X ($8000). I was considering a 24MP D3X at one time, but a $5000 or so price break + 12MP more definitely makes the cash outlay easier to imagine. We've also seen an overall increase in noise performance the past few years despite high pixel counts. Recall that numerous pros were switching from MF film cameras to the 20MP+ Canon FF models several years back.
