In all seriousness, the extra cost of the 800E might be to cover the expense of dealing with aggravation from people who buy it without really knowing what they're getting into. A Pentax rep told me that for a long while the most common reason for Pentax SLRs being sent in for repair was that the customer had taken the lens off the "A" setting and didn't know it (or realize the significance). User error thus became a significant expense.
