There's no way I could afford the full desktop, plus monitors, but maybe, if I could line up someone to buy my four year old iMac, I could pretend that I could afford a refurbished newer one.
the newer iMacs are pretty nice … having reached a performance wall with Aperture on my 2009 Macbook Pro, i pretty much to decided to get a refurb 27" iMac; then i found a great deal on a quad-i7 MacBook Pro with hi-res matte screen; it neatly resolved my concerns about the iMac — non-portability and glossy display — without compromising much on power; and i now have 16GB of RAM and my older Apple 24" display attached and i am very pleased with the performance, Aperture and overall; waiting for my LR4 free upgrade approval from Adobe to see how well it performs
