That is totally fascinating... Indeed people are willingly and en-masse join the social networks only in order to tell the world what was the color of their morning lipstick or the shape of the cloud on top of their house sometimes getting pretty much exhibitionistic about themselves. Then, after quite some time they would notice that they've been telling too much to too many people. So you may have a point here - the human nature is to boast first and to think later...
