Agreed. Hwy 70 from Las Cruces takes you past White Sands, through
Alamogordo and Tularosa, then Hwy 54 on up to Santa Rosa. It's a
beautiful, lonely stretch of road. Or if you're of a mind to
investigate aliens, stick with 70 over to Roswell. ; >]

Great John, have a great trip.
A few hours drive south of Bosque is White Sands National Monument - you really
should try to photograph there for the unworldly landscapes.

I've been getting ready for a while, and all my plans have finally
firmed up. Got the car in the shop today to make sure it's ready. New
alternator & replaced an engine mount.
Tomorrow I take it in to Costco to have the tires rotated.
Bought a Phottix TR-90 interval timer that works with my K20D & I'm
reading the manual right now. I've got my laptop out to download &
install all the security updates.
I leave for Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico on Wednesday.
It's a 3 day drive & I'm allowing 4.5 days to make it out there in case
I & want to dawdle on the way and take some photographs.

Being old doesn't seem so old now that I'm old.
