Virtually all of my insect shots are taken on a Slik Monopod. Mine is
several years old but looks more or less like this one:

It looks like the made the buttons and knobs bright red. Sheesh... no
idea why they would do that. Makes it look like a toy. (The one I have
has black buttons and knobs.)
I use it with a K-5, A* 200mm macro, flash and flash bracket. I would
not use a heavy lens on it (like a 300 2.8 or larger). The 60-250 is a
little heavier than the A* 200 but I would expect the monopod to work
fine with it. . I'm on my second Slik monopod of this type and after
many years of using it setting the height is second nature. Very fast
setup is facilitated by the very light weight. I generally get sharp
results with the bug shots.
As for a walking stick - you could use it for such and I have tried it,
but I'm not a fan of walking sticks.

Checked the last two year's archives, nothing about monopods. What do
people recommend for a K-5 IIs with 60-250? Do you also use it as a
walking stick?
Anyone want to rant for or against monopods with mini-tripods?
