It's an interesting design. I'd have to work with it a bit to see if it 
actually worked as well as the description suggests. The compactness is 
definitely a merit. However, for me, it MUST be fully compatible with standard 
A-S type plates so I'd need to add a compatible clamp, which ruins the line and 
makes it less compact. 

I tried a similar, if not identical, upside-down ball head (Novoflex Uni-Ball) 
some years ago. It was cool but turned out to be awkward as all heck in use. I 
traded it in after a couple of months.
