Len's wrong on this one, AFAIK. Variable-aperture zoom lenses do not keep
the same aperture when they zoom, which is why they're variable and not
fixed aperture lenses.

Test with MZ-5n and 80-320mm f4.5-5.6

Lens set to f4.5; aperture readout in viewfinder: 80mm=f4.5, 320mm=f5.6
Lens set to f8; aperture readout in viewfinder: 80mm=f8, 320mm=f11
Lens set to f16; aperture readout in viewfinder: 80mm=f16, 320mm=f19
Lens set to f32; aperture readout in viewfinder: 80mm=f32, 320mm=f38

The aperture often has an intermediate value that appears as I zoom the
lens between its extreme focal lengths.
