Use what you've got until you find by experience it does not work for you.
The MZ-M is a fine camera. Since you do not mention what lens(es) you have
it is hard to make a recommendation there. For serious portraiture you need
to look at lights, reflectors, and a background stand more than a fancy
camera.

If you have a typical zoom with the camera (28-70, 28-80) that is fine to
start with. If not you may want to look into something that will give you a
focal length between 70 and 135 mm on the long end. You can not go wrong
with a 100mm lens, especially if you already have a 50mm, the two will cover
every thing from full body to tight heads.
